Mi sospecha es que si el espectador está realmente absorvido por la película, va a estar pensando (y en consecuencia parpadeando) al ritmo de esa película. (…) Cuando la gente está profundamente «dentro» de la película, nos damos cuenta de que nadie tose en ciertos momentos, incluso aunque puedan estar resfriados. Si la tos fuera simplemente una respuesta autónoma al humo o a la congestión, sería aleatoriamente constante, al margen de lo que estuviera sucediendo en la pantalla. Pero el público se contiene en determinados momentos, y creo que el parpadeo es algo equivalente a las toses en ese sentido. Existe una famosa grabación en vivo del pianista Sviatoslav Richter tocando los Cuadros para una exposición de Mussorgski durante una epidemia de gripe en Bulgaria hace muchos años. Lo que pasaba estaba tan claro como el día: mientras estaba tocando ciertos pasajes, nadie tosía. En esos momentos, gracias a su arte, él era capaz de suprimir el impulso de toser de 1500 personas enfermas».
Lo he sacado de En el momento del parpadeo (Walter Murch, Ocho y Medio, Madrid 2003) un ensayo sobre montaje, aunque decir esto me parece que es simplificar y acotar injustamente toda su sabiduría.
Ya os hablé aquí hace tiempo de Walter Murch, el montador de peliculones tales como La conversación, Apocalypse Now, El Padrino, El paciente inglés… De alguien así cabe suponer que sepa «algo» de cine. Lo que no tendría por qué ser, pero es, es su inagotable capacidad para exponer esos conocimientos de forma tan amena y precisa.

El caso es que al leer este texto me he dado cuenta de las ganas que tengo de volver a «estar dentro» de una película. De reprimir la tos y escuchar cómo se la reprimen los demás. Hace mucho tiempo que no me pasa. El otro día fui a ver «The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus» y os puedo asegurar que no me pasó: tosí todo lo que quisé y más.
Así que, amados míos, obviando esa película y también Rec 2 (que no me gustó) y la de Woody Allen (que sí me gustó pero no voy a volver a ver)…
¿seríais tan amables de contribuír a mi felicidad indicándome qué merece la pena ir a ver al cine en estos días tan pandémicos?

No he podido ir mucho al cine últimamente, pero El secreto de sus ojos me gustó mucho, la verdad. Creo que merece que le des una oportunidad, me interesaría leer tu opinión.
Me apunto las dos obras de Murch.
Es la película que más me gusta de Ford. Ava, sensacional. Gable, para mí ha sido la presencia más magnética en una pantalla de cine desde que éste se inventó. Y la Kelly tampoco estaba nada mal.¡Es que no parece una película de Ford!

A mí Rec 2 sí que me enganchó! Moon está muy bien, y en Sitges flipé con Canino (Kynodontas), a ver si la estrenan pronto, es muy friki pero vale la pena.
